  1. 01
Open the .dmgDouble-click to mount, then drag Rift Companion to your Applications folder.
  2. 02
Try to open itDouble-click Rift Companion. Because the app isn't Apple-notarized yet, macOS blocks the first launch — this is expected, not an error.
  3. 03
Allow it in Settings → Open AnywayOpen System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the Security section, and click Open Anyway next to Rift Companion, then confirm. You only need to do this once. (On older macOS you can instead right-click the app → Open.)
  4. 04
Open League, lock your champRift Companion finds the client on its own. No login, no setup.
Why the extra step? Auto-opening on first launch requires Apple notarization (a paid developer program). Rift Companion is a free, independent project and is ad-hoc signed but not yet notarized, so macOS asks you to approve it once via Open Anyway — the standard path for software distributed outside the Mac App Store. If you see a "damaged" message, your copy was downloaded with an old broken build — re-download the current one. Power users can instead run xattr -cr "/Applications/Rift Companion.app" in Terminal.
